Welcome to the online home of the Great Lakes Friesian Horse Association!

The Great Lakes Friesian Horse Association members all share a common interest and love of the Friesian horse.  Our members are mainly from Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, Indiana and Minnesota.  However, our members reach as far away as California, Texas to the east coast, and we welcome everyone to our club.  The Great Lakes Friesian Horse Club (GLFHA) is recognized as a Chapter affiliated with the Friesian Horse Association of North America (FHANA), which is the official North American representative of the purebred Dutch Friesian Registry, the Friesch Paarden-Stamboek (FPS).

Our mission is, to promote the purebred Dutch Friesian breed.   As members of the Great Lakes Friesian Horse Association, we advocate sharing knowledge, offering educational clinics, breeding, showing, and enjoying the breed. Our Chapter offers two types of membership, Full Member regular voting and Associate member non-voting. Please see the Membership page for more details.

Feb-17, 2011  Jillis 301 passed away.  This stallion has left his mark on many offspring in the North America.  Our condolences to his owners and life long partners, the family Bosma.

Jan-31, 2011 Another of our beloved friend, Ouke 313, passed away. Ouke has been standing in the US since 1997 under the stuartship of Bob and Arlene DeBoer and their extended family.  Our condolences to the entire DeBoer family at the Friesian Connection.

GLFHA has lost a wonderful ambassador to our Friesian family.  Nanning 374, who is owned by Scott & Shelley Kelnhofer, past away this morning (6-15-10) due to a sudden illness.
